About this walk

Lake Rhona is a picturesque alpine lake with sparkling white quartzite sand beaches hidden among peaks of the Denison Ranges of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.

Lake Rhona is a moderate to advanced multi-day Grade 4 wilderness track. Only people with previous overnight bushwalking experience should attempt this walk. For further walk information, please see the Lake Rhona walk page.

Mobile phones should not be relied upon for navigation or communication. Carrying a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is encouraged.

The weather in Tasmania's remote national parks can be notoriously unpredictable and at times, dangerous. Understand the weather forecast for the duration of your walk and observe sunrise and sunset times. (Lake Gordon is a suggested area for checking the weather forecast depending on current weather patterns).

Individuals are responsible for their own safety and assessment of their capabilities to undertake this track. Please read our Safety in Parks information in preparation for this walk.

Check the PWS alerts page for closures and emergency information before you go: Alerts - Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania.
