Important Safety Information
Walking the Mount Anne circuit is an impressive achievement for those experienced in remote wilderness bushwalking. Walkers must be confident with navigating serious heights, steep cliffs, rock scrambling, pack hauling and extreme weather.
Only HIGHLY experienced walkers should attempt this track. For further walk information, please see the Mount Anne walk page.
The Mount Anne Circuit is a highly advanced multi day Grade 5 - wilderness track and is considered to be more challenging than other multi-day walks in Tasmania such as the Overland Track and Frenchmans Cap. Walkers should gain experience in other walks in Tasmania before attempting this walk.
The section on the Mount Anne circuit called ‘The Notch’ has been the site of many rescues and even fatalities. It is recommended to carry approximately 15 metres of pack hauling rope to use on this section.
There are no huts on this track other than the High Camp hut located below the Eliza Plateau. This is an emergency shelter only. Mobile phones should not be relied upon for navigation or communication on this track. Carrying a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is strongly encouraged.
The weather in Tasmania's remote national parks can be notoriously unpredictable and at times, dangerous. Understand the weather forecast for the duration of your walk and observe sunrise and sunset times. (Strathgordon is the suggested town for checking the weather forecast, depending on current weather patterns).
