About this walk

Important Information

Walls of Jerusalem offers many walking opportunities including day trips, a multi-day circuit and remote walk-through options. Most popular is the central walls area of the park featuring ancient pencil pine forests, sub-alpine vegetation, high peak lookouts, many small tarns and large lakes. For walk information, please see the Walls of Jerusalem page

When camping overnight within the Recreation Zone (central walls area) visitors must stay at Wild Dog Creek, Dixons Kingdom, and/or Lake Adelaide designated campsites. Camping within the Recreation Zone outside of these designated campsites is not permitted. Most visitors spend 2 to 3 days exploring the circuit walk including side tracks to Pool of Bethesda, The Temple, Solomons Throne and Mount Jerusalem.

Walls of Jerusalem has many historical huts including Trappers Hut, Dixons Kingdom Hut, and Lake Ball Hut. Camping in these huts is not permitted unless there is an emergency. This area is a fuel stove only to protect the unique vegetation communities of the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage Area.

Mobile phones should not be relied upon for navigation or communication on this track. Carrying a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) is strongly encouraged.

The weather in Tasmania's remote national parks can be notoriously unpredictable and at times, dangerous. Understand the weather forecast for the duration of your walk and observe sunrise and sunset times. (Deloraine and New Pelion Hut are suggested for checking the forecast depending on current weather patterns).

Check the PWS alerts page for closures and emergency information before you go: Alerts - Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania.
